# Mantis

> Mantis is the knowledge intelligence platform from MIT CSAIL. It maps

Mantis is a knowledge intelligence platform engineered at the MIT Computer
Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and deployed by research
organizations, laboratories, and enterprise teams. It embeds documents,
spreadsheets, images, audio, video, repositories, molecules, and single-cell
data, and lays each corpus out as a navigable map where proximity reflects
meaning (an approach called cognitive cartography). Teams explore structure,
inspect the records behind every region, and work with Composer agents that act
through the same tools the analyst uses, with every answer linked to underlying
evidence. Organizations run private spaces under their own data governance, and
extend the platform through an SDK, a CLI, and a developer API.
