Keywords
The Keywords panel lists every keyword found on the points currently loaded in the map, sorted by how often it occurs. Click a chip and Mantis selects every point carrying that keyword, draws a colored bubble for it on the map, and colors the matching points. It is the fastest way to ask “which points are about X?” without writing a query.

Where to find it
Open View > Inspection > Keywords. The panel needs point metadata to have finished loading.
What it shows
Keywords come with the points, from keywords on the point or in its metadata; the panel does not extract them. It counts how many loaded points carry each one and renders one chip per keyword, with the count in parentheses.
Chips are sorted with your selected keywords first, then by frequency, and the list is capped at 15 chips plus any you have selected. Each keyword gets a stable pastel color, which is also the color used for its bubble on the map and for the points it matches.
Two empty states are worth recognizing: No keywords found in the loaded points. means the space carries no keyword field, while No matching keywords. means your filter text matched nothing.
Controls
Header:
- Auto-display watches your selection and, when every point of a keyword is inside it, selects that keyword for you, up to 15 at a time.
- Create Bag makes a bag from all points matching the selected keywords, named
Keywords: a, b, c (+N more). Disabled until at least one keyword is selected. - Filter keywords… narrows the list by substring. While it has text, the panel reports “Showing N of M keywords” and appends a …more chip; the full list expands about 1.5 seconds after you stop typing.
Footer:
- Show All selects the top 15 currently visible keywords.
- Show All (N) selects every keyword in the space, where N is the total.
- Clear All deselects everything and empties the selection.
The link button in the tab bar freezes the panel: unlink it and the keyword list stops updating as the loaded points change, keeping the frequencies you were looking at.
Spider mode
Press S to toggle spider mode. Each selected keyword’s bubble then draws arcs to the points it matches, so you can see how a term is spread over the map. Bubbles are draggable, so you can pull a term away from the crowd to read its web. Above 500 total connections Mantis samples the lines rather than drawing all of them, keeping at least 20 per bubble.
- Open the panel and skim the top chips; they are the most common terms in the space.
- Type in Filter keywords… to find a specific term.
- Click chips to build up a set. The map selects the matching points and colors them by keyword.
- Press S to see the spider web from each keyword to its points.
- Press Create Bag to keep the resulting set of points.
Limits
- The panel counts keywords over the points loaded in the map, not over your current selection. Selecting points does not change the list, only Auto-display reacts to it.
- Selecting a keyword replaces the selection with the keyword’s points. It does not hide or filter out anything else on the map.
- There is no way to add, rename, merge or delete a keyword from this panel. For your own labels, use hashtags.
- The header has a Grouped/Individual toggle for spaces that define keyword groups, but nothing in the app currently loads those groups, so the toggle does not appear.
