Landmark
A landmark is an annotation pinned to the map: a piece of text with an author, saved server-side against the map so it is there when you come back and there for everyone else on the space. On Map (Legacy) it is a full threaded comment with replies. Use landmarks to say what a region is, not just where it is.

Where to find it
The Landmark button is fifth in the tool island, or press
N. It is on both maps.Placing one
- Activate Landmark. Click the button or press N.
- Click the map. Clicking empty canvas creates a floating landmark at that position. Clicking while a point is under the cursor attaches the landmark to that point instead.
- Type the note. A new landmark opens straight into edit mode. What you type is saved to the backend, so a blank landmark is a real, empty landmark until you fill it in.
You must be signed in to place a landmark; the note carries your name, email and avatar as its author.
What you can do with an existing landmark
On the default Map, a landmark renders as a small card holding its text, its author's name, and a Delete button. Editing the text and clicking away saves it.
Map (Legacy) renders the fuller annotation UI:
- Reply opens a composer and appends a threaded reply under the note.
- Edit / Save toggles the description, for the author only.
- Move re-places the note: start the move, then click a new spot or point.Esc cancels a move in progress.
- Attach and detach bind the note to your current point selection or cut it loose as a floating note.
- Copy share link copies a direct link to the note once it has finished saving.
- Delete removes it.
Limits
- Landmarks belong to a map, not to a space. A landmark placed on one map does not appear on another map of the same data.
- Replies, move, attach and share links are Map (Legacy) only today. Notes created on either map are the same records and are visible on both.
