Inspection
Inspection panels show you what is actually inside the points you selected: their metadata, their text, their keywords, their images, and generated summaries of the set. They are the read side of Mantis. The map tells you which points sit near each other; these panels tell you what those points are.
Where to find them
Open the View menu and look for the Inspection section. Panels are listed alphabetically inside the section, and the box at the top of the menu filters the whole list by name. Clicking an entry opens the panel as a tab; clicking it again opens a second copy.
When you close a panel it parks in the slim rail on the left edge of the workspace. Hover the rail to see panel names, and click one to bring it back where it was.
Note
The View menu lists each panel name once. Video Player exists in both the Exploration and the Inspection group, and the menu keeps the Exploration entry, which opens the Video Spaces player rather than the Inspection one.
The shared rule: they render the current selection
Almost every panel in this group reads the selection of the map it is attached to. With nothing selected they are empty on purpose, and each says so in its own words: Quicksheet shows Select points for table view, the Inspector shows Select a point to view details, HashTags shows No hashtags yet. If a panel looks broken, select some points first.
Two panels work the other way around. Explorer writes the selection instead of reading it, and HashTags toggles points in and out of it when you click a tag.
Most of these panels also wait for point metadata to load and show a spinner until it arrives. Explorer is the exception: it only needs the cluster tree.

Reader is documented in this section, but in the app it sits in the Exploration group: open it from View > Exploration > Reader.
Opening a panel for specific points
Some Inspection panels register a point action, which means they can open themselves when your selection matches what they need.
- Right-click the map with points selected to get a menu of those actions, grouped by category. Actions that do not fit the current selection are listed disabled, with the reason, for example needs 2+ points. Picking an action opens its panel, and if you have no bags yet it also saves the current selection as a bag named Selection so the panel has something to read.
- Map Settings > Selection Actions controls which of them open automatically. The heading there is Panels that auto-open when you select points, and each row shows its point requirement. Inspect Point (exactly one point) and Summarize Selection (two or more points, semantic data required) are on by default; Show Flashcard is off by default.
