Waypoint
A waypoint is a named snapshot of your workspace: the current selection, your bags, selected clusters and layers, view settings, chat messages, the panel layout, and a thumbnail of the map at the moment you saved it. Restoring one puts the space back the way it was. Waypoints are stored on the backend per space and per user, so they survive reloads and can be shared.

Heads up
Waypoint is not in the default Map’s tool island. Open it from Map (Legacy) (View > Exploration > Map (Legacy)), or press W, which works anywhere in the space.
Saving a waypoint
- Open the dialog. Press W, or click Waypoint in the Map (Legacy) tool palette. Picking the tool opens the Save Waypoint dialog and immediately switches the active tool back to Select, so there is nothing to click on the canvas afterward.
- Name it. The palette dialog prefills
Waypoint <date and time>; theW popup starts empty and adds checkboxes for which partsof the state to include. - Save. Press ↵ or click Save Waypoint. Mantis captures a screenshot of the map canvas as the thumbnail and posts the snapshot.
What is captured
- Selection: selected points, the current point, selected bags, clusters and layers.
- Bags: every bag with its contents, plus which one was active.
- View settings, cluster depth, local label count, zoom level and camera.
- Composer chat messages.
- Visible panels and the full panel layout.
Managing waypoints
The Waypoints panel lists the waypoints saved for the current space by the signed-in user. From there you can search them, load one back into the workspace, rename it, copy a share link, and delete one or several at a time. Waypoints shared with other collaborators are marked as shared.
Limits
- A waypoint is not a position on the map and not a step in a route. There is no ordering, no progress tracking, and no sequence between waypoints. Restoring one replaces the current state wholesale.
- The list is scoped to one space and one account. It is not a space-wide history.
